BOARD & TRAIN

Our immersive Board and Train program is an ideal option for busy owners and vacation-goers, as well as puppies or dogs that may need an extended period of focused training with a certified trainer.

Board and Trains provide engaging, holistic training for your dog in a structured and safe environment. We’ll work on everything from household manners to obedience, while targeting specific concerns and training goals. Rest assured your dog won’t be bored — their stay will be full of training sessions, walks, public access outings, and play! We’ll also take at least one rest day per week where we’ll shift focus to in-home lifestyle training.

The best part about this program is I’m able to do the heavy lifting for you and put in all the foundational reps so you don’t have to. With a brand new skill set in place, you’ll be set up for prolonged success back home with your dog. Of course it’s your job to put in the work to maintain and build upon progress we made on your own.

In addition to check-ins during your Board and Train, we’ll set aside 60-90 minutes for an included go-home session to review everything your dog has learned and ensure you feel equipped and confident to keep up training and transfer what you’ve learned to your home life.

FAQs

  • Board and Trains are a one-of-a-kind immersive training program where your dog is living with and learning from a certified trainer 24/7 for an extended period of time. Because I’m able to dedicate multiple hours a day to working solely with your dog, we can undergo extensive training in a short period of time — something you may not be able to do with a busy schedule or without the necessary training skills.

  • Since Board and Trains are tailored to your specific training goals, day to day routine looks different for every dog! However, a typical day includes:

    • a minimum of 1 hour active training

    • at least one 30 minute to 1 hour structured walk

    • public access/exposure outings

    • structured play

    • place and crate time

    • picture/video updates sent to you!

  • As with all training, every dog/owner pair has different needs and goals. There’s certain things I generally teach to all dogs during B&Ts, including but not limited to:

    • Addressing problem behaviors

    • Crate training

    • Place command

    • Household manners

    • Greeting guests calmly

    • House training

    • Loose leash walk

    • Formal heel

    • Down + Stay

    • Recall

    • Introduction to dogPACER treadmill (builds confidence, great exercise for rainy days, and can even transfer to your treadmill at home!)

  • This depends on the goals we want to accomplish during your dog’s stay. Please schedule a free no obligation 15 minute consultation for more info!

  • Board and Trains are completed with the use of a prong collar or slip lead, and E-collar Technologies Mini-Educator (e-collar), provided by you.

I use these tools during all Board and Trains because they provide the advantage of clear communication with your dog and don’t rely on owner skill level. This will help us ensure the foundational skills put in place during your Board and Train will transfer more seamlessly once your dog is back under your own care, in your own home.

  • I offer $50 in-person follow-up visits to address any hiccups you may run into post-Board and Train.

I like to allow a two week adjustment period before doing any follow-up visits. This gives your dog a chance to get back into the swing of being in your home environment with their new routine and skillsets in place.

Follow-up visits can even be done in a public setting such as a pet-friendly store or park.
